BAPO Health and Safety Awareness Day for Technicians

Introduction
The BAPO Technician Committee are pleased to present
this Health and Safety Awareness Training Day for Technicians.
This course is a one-day course,
which will cover the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, Infection
Control in Orthotics and Prosthetics and Metals Used in Orthotic
and Prosthetic Manufacture.
This course will run with a maximum
of 36 participants. The delegates will be split into 3 groups
to allow ease of discussion during the teaching sessions.
Learning Outcomes
Health and Safety is a subject that is very important
in all types of manufacturing environments but something we don't
always understand properly.
By the end of this course you will be able to:

Identify your reposonsibilities under the
Health and Safety at Work Act to carry out your job safely.

Describe the principle and procedures of
infection controland its role in Orthotics and Prosthetics.
- Describe the different types of metals and hand tools used
in Orthotic and Prosthetic Manufacture, and explore how their
characteristics suit their uses.
Intended Participants
This course is designed for all Technicians and others
with an interest in Orthotic/Prosthetic Manufacture.

BAPO Members and Associates: £150.00
All Others: £175.00
We encourage applications for reimbursement from the Orthotic
Education and Training Trust. Orthotic Technicians or their employers
are able to obtain reimbursement for course fees, travelling expenses
and accomodation (up to a limit of £50.00 per night) from
the Orthotic Education and Training Trust. Application forms are
available from the OETT website (www.oett.org.uk).
Requests for reimbursement must include evidence of reflective
learning using the CPD form provided on the website.

BAPO Conference 2008
This course is running at this year's conference venue. Participants
on this course will be allowed to register for the conference at
a reduced rate of £55.00. To register for the conference please
complete a registration form stating that you will attending the
Traininf Day on the Friday.

Places will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. Please
apply early to avoid disappointment.
Registration closes 14 working days before the date of the course,
therefore you must endure your registration form and payment
arrive at the Secretariat by this time.
Companies wishing to book several places can do so by sending a
purchase order to the BAPO Secretariat. Full payment must
be received 10 working days before the date of the course.
