Carbon Composite Manufacture Training Day

Algeos recent training day on orthotic manufacture was received with success by those who attended, facilitating the continuation of future product training and demonstrations.

The training event was held over two days – Monday the 9th and Tuesday the 10th of June and featured demonstrations of two of our new orthotic products: TFC (Thermo Formable Composite) and Therrox Comfort Felt. Over 60 guests were in attendance including technicians, orthotists and podiatrists both from the NHS and private sector.

Kevin Moore demonstrates TFC

Guest presenter Kevin Moore highlighted the use and application of our innovative TFC range – a revolutionary component in orthotic manufacturing due to its unique properties which combine the high localised strength of carbon composite with the modeling properties of thermoplastics. Guests were given a full manufacturing demonstration highlighting the techniques used in manufacturing insoles and AFOs from the material demonstrating TFC’s strength in performance yet flexibility in its ability to simply custom form to a given mould by using a heat gun or in an oven under a vacuum. The advantage of utilising TFC in comparison to other carbon materials is that unlike its competitors - TFC is safe, easy to use, and re-useable.

Guest presenter Lee Garlik demonstrated the pioneering design and purpose of Therrox in modern orthotic manufacture. Guests were invited to learn about the manufacturing process and were provided with the opportunity to handle the completed product. Due to its unsurpassed moulding capabilities, Therrox Comfort Felt holds ideal orthotic properties which aid in both the manufacturing and application of an orthotic. Consisting of two layers of fibre needled together – the structure is vacuumed into a hardened shape which can be heat moulded around a plaster cast. The technician can then adapt shape to provide therapeutic support for the patient. It is not only easily conformable to customisation requirements, but is also breathable, keeps the foot warm and wicks away moisture while stabilizing the foot, ensuring optimum comfort and functionality for the patient.

We aimed to ensure that our guests receive the most from our training events and we appreciate the importance in understanding our customer concerns, therefore we also provided our guests with appropriate time in which to raise any questions they had concerning both products.

Algeos are committed to providing education and training in our industry as we recognise the importance of our customers and value their requirements. In our dedication towards pursuing innovation and constant improvement we acknowledge the necessity of practical demonstrations in addition to the information we provide on our products.

We hope to welcome more of our customers to other successful training events at Algeos in the near future. If you missed our most recent one, please contact us for further information on our TFC range and Therrox Comfort Felt products.
