NC/T 001 Foot Orthotics - Insole Manufacture Techniques for Technicians

Intended Audience: This module is intended for Orthotic and Podiatry technicians.

Course Content:
The aim of this technical module is to equip the participants with both basic and advanced practical skills and knowledge to enable them to competently carry out manufacture/fabrication of foot orthoses within a clinical and technical prosthetic and orthotic delivery setting.

The participants will gain an understanding of the considerations needed by clinicians to prescribe and design foot orthoses. They will develop a rationale to understand the importance of appropriate manufacturing within elements of clinical practice in the area of foot orthotics, including finishing and modification of foot orthoses in line with COSHH, MDA regulations, risk assessment, appropriate use of PPE and all necessary health and safety management issues.

Financial Assistance for Orthotic Personnel:
Orthotic technicians or their employers are able to obtain reimbursement for course fees, travelling expenses and accommodation (up to a limit of £50 per night) from the Orthotic Education & Training Trust. Application forms are available from the OETT website www.oett.org.uk requests for reimbursement must include evidence of reflective learning using the CPD form provided on the website.
