The
Phil Jenkins Memorial cup Blackpool 2004
This years Orthotic Technicians five a side football
event was an enjoyable day for all who attended. The famous seaside
resort of Blackpool was the venue for 2004 competition.
On a pleasant Saturday afternoon seven teams
from across the UK contested for the right to become the 2004
cup holders. Last years winners Algeos looked a threat once
again with a string of impressive wins in their group games.
Ortho.C.Fab, 2003s beaten finalists were
finding it hard to recapture the form of last year, possibly because
their hotel bar had been open from 10.00am that morning. Wales
was well represented by a large contingent from Daceys of Cardiff
who enjoyed themselves over the weekend.
The two semi finals were Trust Orthotics v Gilbert
& Mellish and Algeos v RSL. Both were hotly contested, with
Trust and Algeos victorious, which set up an all Merseyside final.
This was Algeos third final in as many years as they set out to
become the first team to retain the trophy. But Trust in their
first tournament turned on the style. After two early goals they
looked the more assured team and ended up being convincing winners
with a 4-0 victory in the end.
Trust MD Paul Turner was delighted with his teams
achievements and was pleased to receive the trophy from Algeos
sales director James Sheridan.
Orthotictechnicains would like to thank all this
years participants for their time and effort and for making the
day so enjoyable once again. The football was well contested and
played in good nature.
Congratulations to Paul at Trust for a fine victory.
