Algeos Show and Tell winner

Christopher Dodsley from Nottingham University NHS Trust who was this years winner of the first orthotictechnicians.com Show and Tell recently received his prize from Francis Barrett, O&P Divisonal Sales Manager of A.Algeos. Christopher’s presentation was on his method of applying transfers to polyethelyne materials. Well done Christopher.
Training courses for Technicians

The Technician committee of BAPO in association with Algeos are looking to put together some training courses for Technicians. These courses will take place at Algeos training facility in Liverpool and may be one day courses or two day courses depending on the subject. We have access to local hotels to put attendees up. We hope that the courses will also have practical elements to them.
We hope that the courses will be able to attract funding from the OETT this means that the attendees will be able to claim back from OETT the cost of the course, travel to the course and up to £60 per night’s accommodation.
Now the hard bit what subject would you like to see us cover. I have started a thread over on the forum page and I would like to ask you to take time to visit the forum and post your views.
BAPO Conference report

Last weekend saw a very enjoyable conference take place with one of the best Technical programme at a BAPO conference and thanks must go to Phil Buttery the Technician on the conference committee.
We also saw the first orthotictechnicians.com Show and Tell and congratulations go to Christopher Dodsley from Nottingham University NHS Trust who was this years winner with his method of applying transfers to polyethelyne materials. Well done Christopher. We also saw the return of the Algeos social event and I hope you all enjoyed the event.
CAD-CAM for Orthotics & Prosthetics

Delcam in association with Algeos and BAPO are pleased to present a revised version of this course which will look at the subject of CADCAM and its uses in O&P. As requested following last year’s presentations, the course has been reduced to one day. This next event will take place 20th April 2010.
Delcam UK is a division of Delcam Plc, one of the worlds leading developers and suppliers of CADCAM software for the 3-dimensional design, manufacture and inspection of complex shapes. OrthoModel is built upon 30 years of experience in the aerospace and automotive industries to give a solution which automates the design and manufacture of custom orthotic insoles.
This course will run with a maximum of 30 participants. Lunch will be included for all attendees.
